If Only

If only you could see life through my eyes

All the pain I’ve witnessed and even kept hidden inside

If only you could understand what you think you may know

If only you could see that I’m scared everyday even if it doesn’t show

If only you could feel the hurt in my voice

If only you knew the pain of never really having a choice

If only you knew how lost I’ve been inside and out

If only you knew how it feels to have to whisper when you want to shout

If only you knew what it’s like to put your heart aside

If only you knew what I had to give up just to make her mine

Maybe there’s a reason you’ll never understand

Maybe my words are like the pain in the cuts slightly below her hand

Don’t look at me and say that you feel my pain

Because the things I’ve seen could drive a guy insane

I’ve been to hell and back and there’s not much left to say

The truth is no matter what you do you can’t wish the pain away

  1. I absolutely love this, Eric. It's amazing. It's just so powerful; I can't explain it. I get so much emotion from it. My favorite line ((hehe this time I read it)) was "If only you knew how it feels to have to whisper when you want to shout". I just love this poem.
